why do I have to purchase the products upfront?

As much as we would like to give you free gear straight away, we do have to ask you to purchase the gear before we can reimburse you. We do this for three reasons:

  1. Product reviews: If we need you to write a product review (on amazon for example) then you will need to purchase the product through official channels before you can do so.

  2. Delivery: Unfortunately we are a small company and we can't facilitate storing and shipping all of these products, that's what these brands do best and by ordering direct from them you will get your gear much quicker and easier.

  3. Reliability: We have tried sending out free gear in the past, trusting that the assignment tasks would be completed. But unfortunately many people didn't complete the tasks, which leaves us in a tricky place with the brands.

We are keen to stress, it's so important to us that our members are reimbursed for your efforts. There is no intention to not reimburse and at this stage we haven't had one instance of not reimbursing a member who has completed the assignment tasks. If you have any concerns in this area please let us know.

Can I earn money from social assignments?

We now run two types of assignments. The first is our collection of ‘social assignments’, these tend to be operated with smaller brands, just starting out and have a low-level of budget available to support social media investment. However, these brands provide the perfect training ground for the next generation of professional photographers and social influencers to hone their skills. Learn about what works and what doesn’t.

The second type of assignment is ‘professional assignments’ and these involved a higher level of photographer skill-set and in some cases a larger follower base to be involved. Each brief can be very different, depending on the brands requirement. If you had any questions about if you are suitable for one of our professional assignments, please contact us to discuss further.

who owns the rights to my submitted images?

On ‘Social Assignments’ You retain all of the rights to all of your images submitted to an assignment. Brands are only able to use your images on their social media channels under our social media license unless they would like to purchase an extended license from you, to use your images elsewhere.

However on ‘Professional assignments’ the ownership of images is usually transferred or shared with the brand involved in your project, as these images are now being paid for.

Can I use my phone camera for assignments?

Using a good smart phone camera is fine, however to make sure you get the best photographs possible, it’s better to use a higher quality camera like a DSLR or mirrorless camera. Clip on lenses are also an option to upgrade your phone camera on a tight budget.

What size do my images need to be?

As a guide, images should be at least 1080 x 1080px so they look great on Instagram.

Can I edit my photographs?

Yes, we encourage you to edit your own photographs and create a style. We also advise you to avoid any particularly harsh or heavy filters or effects when editing your photographs to maintain their authenticity.

What happens if I miss the deadline?

If you miss the deadline for your assignment then unfortunately we will not be able to reimburse you for the product. If you think that you will struggle to complete the assignment on time, then please let us know as soon as possible, and in advance of the deadline.

Will I be reimbursed for delivery costs?

Yes. If you let us know the cost of delivery, then we can add this to your reimbursement in addition the product cost.

Who should I contact if the product is faulty?

Contact the retailer that you purchased the product from to get a replacement product. Also, please contact us to let us know about the issue.
